10 Most Cheesy Songs From The 1970s

1. Afternoon Delight - Starland Vocal Band (1976)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpGRdX5sUAs Thinkin' of you's working up an appetite Looking forward to a little afternoon delight Rubbing sticks and stones together Make the sparks ignite And the thought of rubbin' you is getting so exciting! Sky rocket's in flight Afternoon delight! My personal favourite song on this list, Afternoon Delight - the first time you hear it - sounds like a nice little corny melody - fairly innocent. Until after a repeat of listening you realise it is actually a naughty little ditty about the joys of having sex in the afternoon. Woo hoo! Who in their right mind is going to turn that down? The vocal arrangement is excellent and won a Grammy. And despite its cheesiness - it works as a saucy little number. It has immense charm and it is timeless - as we can see from the Glee version of the song - it works as well today as it did back in the 1970s. And although we never heard of the Starland Vocal Band again, we should thank them for this terrific addition to 70s cheesiness canon. So throw away your meetings and boring working day and get down to business a la Starland Vocal Band.

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
