9. Aled Jones - Walking In The Air (1985)
When the animated movie "The Snowman" was released in 1982 by Channel 4, the song "Walking in the Air" stood out, mainly as it was the only part of the film to feature any words or music. Incredibly it took 3 years for a single of the song to be released. Despite having a unique sound, this track was Aled Jones' only chart success. Despite an unbelievable voice, and beautiful melody, the highest position this track reached was number 5. This version was actually a cover of the original, and the makers of the movie didn't give permission for the Jones version to include footage of the actual movie. http://youtu.be/wQt6NmOKzYw 10. Mel and Kim - Rockin Around the Christmas Tree (1987)
When Comic Relief singles were actually.... good! The second song on this list from 1987, reached number 3. Comic Reliefs' second ever Single, following the previous years "Living Doll" cover by the Young Ones. The music video starts and finishes with Mel Smith and Gryffe Rhys-Jones performing their famous "tete-a-tete" comedy sketch. A great tune, with a hilarious video to boot, Featuring Spitting Image dolls and the Mekon! Comedian Mel Smith, and singer Kim Wilde in one of the most bizarre combinations we've ever seen, but it worked. http://youtu.be/h8tHC7q1tMs Classics, one and all.
