10 Classic Christmas Songs That Weren't Number 1

7. Wizzard - I Wish it Could be Christmas Everyday (1973)

Originally released in 1973 and was possibly the worst year for this single, as it was up against Slade's "Merry Christmas Everyone", which topped the charts. However, it nearly wasn't released at all that year due to a contractual wrangle between EMI and Warner Records. Eventually the dispute was resolved, and the song was released by EMI. Written by Roy Wood (formerly of ELO), who also performed lead vocals, the song has been re-released a further 8 times (and every year for the past 6 years!). However, the song hasn't hit anywhere near the number 4 it originally achieved. http://youtu.be/ZoxQ4Ul_DME

8. Andy Williams - It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

Recorded as part of his 1963 Christmas special, the highest position this song ever reached was 21 in 2007. A favourite for companies with commercials at the festive season, it's an absolute mystery why Andy Williams record company decided to release yet another of "White Christmas" in 1963 instead of this track. It has since been re-recorded by Johnny Mathis, Garth Brooks, Harry Connick Jnr, and Chicago amongst others. None of these artists has been able to put their mark on the songs as well as Williams. http://youtu.be/gFtb3EtjEic
