10 Classic Rock Artists That NEVER Sold Out
3. AC/DC
A lot of rock these days tends to be put through some sort of filter. Whether it's going through the pop sphere, electronic music, or interpolated into hip hop, today's music scene has been dominated by artists who try to combine two different sonic worlds in the same space. Then again, there's never any shame with firing up the straight up rock that comes from AC/DC.
Ever since their debut back in the mid '70s, the music to come from Angus and Malcolm Young struck the perfect balance between heaviness and fun rock and roll. As opposed to the more adventurous types like Led Zeppelin or Deep Purple, the songs that these guys were coming out with seemed to be the logical extension of acts like Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard, complete with the same wild vocals of both Bon Scott and Brian Johnson.
Even when being rock and roll wasn't necessarily the coolest thing in the world, their ability to stick to their guns was unmatched, as they never went unplugged, tried a rap crossover, or got involved with some pop producer to make their millions. Despite being in a business where it seems expected for artists to sell out, AC/DC is the prime example of just how far you can go by just doing what you love.
