10 Classic Rock Bands That Released 5 Great Albums In A Row
4. Led Zeppelin to Houses of the Holy - Led Zeppelin
When you think about the greatest hard rock bands of the world, Led Zeppelin has to be one of the first that springs to mind. Across their tenure, the band set the blueprint for what every rock and roll act would be in the '70s, from the thunderous sound of John Bonham's drums to Jimmy Page virtually inventing the guitar riff. While most bands have trouble finding their feet, Zeppelin emerged onto the scene like seasoned veterans.
Given his time in the Yardbirds, Page's attention to detail as a producer led to some of the most infectious tunes of the rock era. Though they never bothered to think of titles for their first four records, Led Zeppelin I to Led Zeppelin IV showed them progressing by leaps and bounds. With the first entry being a straight ahead blues affair, II saw them adopting folk, hard rock, and even fantasy elements into their sound. The band's third effort may have been a bit too acoustically driven for some, but IV offered up a front-to-back track listing of classics, from "Stairway to Heaven" to "When the Levee Breaks."
For their first titled album Houses of the Holy, Zeppelin took their sound and burst it wide open, with Eastern influences being mixed with hard rock like on "No Quarter" and "The Rain Song." The titles may not be the most creative, but the amount kickass on these records really speaks for itself.
