10 Classic Rock Bands That Released 5 Great Albums In A Row
5. Beggars Banquet to Goats Head Soup - The Rolling Stones
The Rolling Stones have had such a storied history that it feels like you need an actual road map to plan out their albums. When they first arrived on the scene, the band had come out with some of the greatest singles of the day, with "Satisfaction" setting the bar for dirty rock and roll. Though their experimentation with psychedelia on Their Satanic Majesties Request was a bit hit and miss, the band started to settle into a groove that would bring them to the next level.
Much like the blues musicians they had idolized, the Stones' run from the late '60s up until the early '70s remains some of the greatest rock and roll ever produced. Starting with Beggars Banquet, the band channeled a certain menace in their tunes with "Street Fighting Man" and "Sympathy for the Devil." Though Brian Jones would die shortly after the sessions, the band drafted Mick Taylor and began writing even more classic material.
Across Let It Bleed and Sticky Fingers, the band struck a unique balance between rock, country, blues, and balladry, with each song knocking it out of the park. By the time that the double album Exile on Main Street arrived, the band had an almost-daily habit of knocking out classics, with "Rip This Joint" alongside "Tumbling Dice." Though Goats Head Soup is viewed by some as the comedown from half a decade of classics, it's the afterglow the Stones deserved after years of figuring out the power of the blues.
