5. Killer Queen (Queen, 1974)
This woman, who remains nameless in the lyrics, is perhaps the most extravagant and lavish floozy in the list. Harlotry never sounded so exclusive and chic before Queens staccato piano and vibrant choruses in this song that defined the British bands inimitable flamboyant style. The Francophile lyrics are somewhat cryptic but undeniably explosive, like Killer Queen herself. Mercurys decidedly androgynous looks in the video, as well as Brian Mays mischievous and playful guitar solos, defy virile rock standards and define the glam-rock movement of the 70s. A brilliant musical portrait of a fictitious woman.
