10 Classic Rock Songs That Were Likely Inspired From Other Songs

2. Come Together - The Beatles

Okay, but surely the Beatles get off clean on a list like this, right? These guys have been known for creating some of the most forward thinking music of the 20th century. Well, the Fab Four did start off as a standard garage band back in the day though, and some of those influences can still turn up years after the fact.

After the sessions for Let It Be grinded to a halt, the Fabs came together to make one more great album, and John Lennon had a great bluesy romp to start it off with Come Together. When he first brought it into the sessions though, Paul McCartney noticed just how much the song sounded like Chuck Berry's song You Can't Catch Me, and suggested that they slow the song down to give it a much more swampy vibe, which made for one of the greatest basslines of the time.

That wasn't enough to get it past Berry's lawyers though, who noticed that some lyrics in the first verse were the same as Berry's song and sued Lennon a few months after it came out. For all of the sums of money that they could have gotten out of the Smart Beatle's pockets, Berry's estate ended up going in a bit of a different direction, having Lennon record an entire album of cover songs with the proceeds going to them.
