1. R. Kelly - "Ignition (Remix)"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MJYZLjc8JQ One thousand years from now, when aliens unearth artifacts about pop culture in the early 00s (and recreate the technology necessary to listen to our music), they'll discover two things: We were incapable of knowing who let the dogs out, and R. Kelly knew how to write a damn club anthem. The two versions of "Ignition" couldn't be less similar, with each representing a different side of R. Kelly's songwriting ambitions. The first is a slinky, pseudo-soul, uglies-bumpin' slow jam made explicitly for bedroom play. The remix, though, that's an indelible part of our culture now, and still fills the dance floor when it comes on at a club. It's certainly one of the most popular cases of a remixed version becoming the definitive version of a song, to the point that the majority of the population doesn't know there was ever a non-remixed "Ignition." Sure, he comes right out and says it's a remix at the beginning of the track, but maybe that's just...code...for something? Fun fact: That first bit of the remix really does appear at the end of the original version, as R. Kelly suggests. "Usually I don't do this, but uh, go 'head on and break em off with a lil' preview of the remix..." segues into the first verse from said remix, before fading out to end the track. "Ignition (Remix)" is now an eternal piece of pop music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6y_4_b6RS8
