10 Classic Song Remixes Better Than The Original

6. Jennifer Lopez Feat. Ja Rule - "I'm Real (Murder Remix)"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ge6ZXAq1vtc The original was an attempt at reviving the girly hip-pop of the Paula Abdul and Mariah Carey era. (Janet Jackson even got in on the action at one point, dropping all that sexy badassery she'd build up with Rhythm Nation to give us..."All For You"? Woof.) The retro vibe didn't really carry it out of 2001, though, and listening to it now sounds dated in ways that even Paula's "Straight Up" managed to avoid. It was just too peppy for the style J. Lo had cultivated up to that point with songs like "Waiting For Tonight" and "Love Don't Cost a Thing." Luckily, for the remixed cut she brought in Ja Rule to bring a little grit to the tune. "I'm Real" basically started the hyper-popular trend of duets between pop stars and gruff rappers (which Ja Rule would participate in about 80 percent of). Maybe that's not a great legacy, but "I'm Real" is still pretty damn fantastic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sjx9oSJDAVQ
