10 Classic Songs You Didn't Know Were Ripped Off

9. The Bad Touch - The Bloodhound Gang

Ok, so maybe it's a bit of a stretch to think of a comedy song as a technical ripoff of another song. I mean, even if it's hard to pinpoint something getting ripped off in music, hearing the same joke over again is a bit easier to spot out in the wild. That's not where things fall short for these doofuses in the monkey costumes though.

From day one, the Bloodhound Gang were always a hip-hop act with tinges of humor sprinkled throughout, and that normally demands a hell of a lot of samples. When it comes to the Bad Touch though, hearing its origin almost ruins the entire song once you try to listen again. For as much as the bassline is funky as hell and the lyrics sit perfectly on top of everything, the actual genius behind this beat was actually created by the Pet Shop Boys as a long-forgotten B-side called In the Night.

That doesn't make the Bad Touch automatically bad, so to speak. In fact, you could make the argument (perhaps sacrilegious) that the Bloodhound Gang do the electro pop legends one better with this tune, as their ode to sex is a lot more fun and bouncy than the original's robotic energy. While it might seem like a dumb comedy song on the surface, it takes a certain level of creative genius to turn an instrumental this sterile into one of the most hilarious tracks of the millennium.
