10 Classic Songs You Didn't Know Were Ripped Off

8. She's Electric - Oasis

The idea of Oasis ripping off the Beatles has been following them around since before they got the ball rolling. From the comparisons of Liam Gallagher and John Lennon's vocal style to the millions of song references in the lyrics to some of Oasis' biggest hits, the work of the Fab Four has clearly rubbed off on these lads from Manchester. However, some of these influences are a lot more hidden than you might like to admit.

As far as What's the Story Morning Glory is concerned, She's Electric is one of the few lowlights in the track listing, being a much more story-driven song influenced by the '60s British Invasion. Though that sentence alone already triggers alarm bells, the chorus of the song has a little snippet of something even more familiar. Once Liam slips into falsetto, the melody of the line "and I want you to know" is practically lifted verbatim from the breakdown of the Beatles' classic While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

Unlike other artists who try to backpeddle though, Noel Gallagher has always stuck by his influences at every turn, even going so far as to admit to "stealing" the melody to make something entirely different. Some may call a crib like this lazy on principle, but there's a certain artistic ingenuity in taking these obvious tie-ins and somehow making them even more incredible.
