10 Completely Insane Musician Team-Ups (That Actually Happened)

8. Eminem And Elton John Do "Stan"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZY2p7oE7Bpw Good news, everybody: Marshall Mathers isn't a massive homophobe! Despite the reams and reams of lyric sheets that suggest otherwise, he's mates with Elton John, and how can you be a homophobe when you're friends with a gay person? Wait, hang on, Eminem is friends with Elton John? Yep, it's true. The Real Slim Shady and The Brown Dirt Cowboy teamed up to play the former's hit Stan at the 2001 Grammy Awards. It's like Eminem thought "hm, what would be a stranger duet than me and Dido?" and then he saw that photo of Elton John dressed as Donald Duck. That was his eureka moment. To be fair, the performance is actually pretty good - besides the stage set up where Eminem writhes around on a bed and John is hidden behind a partition until his refrain - and probably paved the way for Ghetto Gospel, the posthumous Tupac single produced by Slim which sampled John's Indian Sunset. Actually, maybe that was the second eureka moment: what's a stranger duet than Eminem and Elton John? Tupac and Elton John. Because Tupac was dead, to put it another, more obvious way.
