10 Concept Albums That Make Absolutely No Sense

7. Saints of Los Angeles - Motley Crue

Ever since the '80s, it's been hard to keep the guys in Motley Crue together to tolerate each other for more than ten seconds. Acting very much like brothers in rock and roll, a lot of the bad blood between these four lunatics has ended up pulling them apart in recent years. Though they managed to make it work for their final sendoff Saints of Los Angeles, the actual concept behind things weren't as memorable as they probably thought.

Set in their hometown, Nikki Sixx and Vince Neil have gone on record for the Saints of Los Angeles being a sort of soundtrack of their lives, from their start playing shows at the Whisky to becoming the self-proclaimed saints of their town. That kind of mindset might have worked in bringing them all together, but the end result doesn't really feel nearly as much like a Crue album as they might have thought.

Bringing in James Michael from Nikki Sixx's solo band, a lot of the material on this record just feels like a SIXX A.M. record that just happens to have the members of Motley Crue in it. Despite a decent closer with Goin Out Swingin, the actual content at play isn't really something you need to focus on for more than five seconds. Even though it's nice to have conviction in your work, execution is a whole different animal.
