5. They Play Insanely Well

Well apparently Nickelback didn't get the memo because they've been shredding since day one and continue to do so now. Nickelback has a lot more in common with classic rock musicians than they do with their modern rock counterparts. When it comes time to rip Chad Kroeger and Ryan Peake crank it up to 11 every time with their guitar riffs and leads. Not to be outdone the rhythm section holds everything down with some of the best power grooves in the modern rock era. I can't tell you how many times I've played the intro to "Follow You Home" in front of a drummer and have seen their ears perk up immediately at the sound of the double bass. This enthusiasm is quickly followed up by a look of disgust as I explain that for a moment they just responded to a Nickelback song in a positive manner. Still it just goes to show that when you remove the stigma of Nickelback and someone just gives it a chance there's quite a bit to appreciate about their musicianship.
