Otis Redding like a lot of musicians on this list is an absolute legend and his performance of Respect is just awesome. From start to finish Redding displays his signature style with great success when performing Respect. With that being said Aretha Franklin deserves a lot of credit here for the fact that she absolutely blows Redding's performance out of the water when singing this song. No matter which version you prefer it's almost a no contest here when saying that Franklin's outshines the original. Aretha has got some undeniable pipes and man does she put them on display here. There's no argument that Aretha's version is more well known than Redding's and is thought of the definitive version. It may not be hers but Aretha Franklin absolutely owns this song.
