8. Amy Winehouse Body And Soul
This beautiful duet between Amy Winehouse and Tony Bennett is a cover of the 1930's jazz classic, Body And Soul. It was Amy's final studio recording before her death in 2011. The single was released worldwide on what would have been her 28th birthday and then later on the compilation album 'Lioness: Hidden Treasures' which contained unreleased demos and recordings. Amy Winehouse's music is often considered to be a little different to the mainstream pop, due to her exceptionally individual voice. Famous singers Duffy, Adele and Lady Gaga, have credited Amy for making their rise to fame much easier, as Amy had paved the way for unconventional women, with different fashion and music tastes, in the industry. Just before her death, Amy Winehouse was constantly in and out of rehab, with a habit of abstaining from drugs and alcohol and then relapsing. She died on the 23rd July 2011 due to alcohol intoxication, having drunk moderately for the few days leading up to her death. The profits gained from the single Body And Soul went to The Amy Winehouse Foundation, which honours her memory by aiming to prevent the effects of drug and alcohol abuse on young people, as well as helping and inspiring disadvantaged youths to reach their full potential.
