5. Elvis Presley Guitar Man
Elvis Presley, also known as The King of Rock and Roll, was a cultural icon who redefined music and a sex symbol who caused riots at his live performances. In the year leading up to his death, Elvis had gained a significant amount of weight, took daily pharmaceuticals and was reported to have paranoid obsessions. He died on the 16th August, 1977, aged 42, having been found on his bathroom floor, unresponsive and unable to be roused. Since his death, some of his music has been rereleased, as well as some new, unheard songs. The song Guitar Man was released both in Elvis' lifetime and after. He had first recorded it after Jerry Reed released it as a single; singing the words while Reed played the guitar part. After his death, the song was rerecorded in 1981, leaving Elvis' voice intact but using a new electric arrangement. This version of the song reached number one in the charts, being the last of eleven number one country hits for Elvis Presley.
