10 Craziest Musical Urban Legends
5. Dark Side of the Moon Cinematic Power
When it comes to some of the greatest albums of all time, Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd is that rare record that hasn't aged a day. Being a proto concept album about the way people journey through life, the actual construction of each of the songs bleed into each other in a way that makes each of them feel greater than the sum of its parts. Long before the Wall became a movie though, many a Floyd fan was questioning the cinematic origins of Dark Side.
In what can only be described as ingenious serendipity, almost every single second of Dark Side of the Moon is alleged to sync up perfectly with The Wizard of Oz when played back. Though there is no set time as to when to start playing the record during viewings, many people have linked up Dorothy and Toto's journey to the Emerald City to songs like Time and Money, with the narrative matching the vicious guitar stabs every step of the way.
Then again, it's not like these things are polar opposites either, with Dark Side's reflection of the fanciful parts of life before going back to reality being a unique parallel to Dorothy's journey from a wonderland back to Kansas. For as much as this be considered a stoner's fever dream, sometimes the fiction ends up being more accurate than the truth.
