10 Creepiest Love Songs Ever Written

7. Clay Aiken - "Invisible"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbhOVKhwO_4 The songwriting team behind Clay Aiken's breakthrough single probably didn't intend to make something this thoroughly creepy, but they just couldn't help themselves. This one comes out of the gate firing on all the wrong cylinders, with Clay suggesting that his love interest is lying to him about her plans for the evening:
Whatcha€™ doin€™ tonight?I wish I could be a fly on your wallAre you really alone?
So right away, we know that this isn't the typical unrequited love ditty. There's something boiling under the surface, and it sounds like a mixture of jealousy and caginess. And then he launches right past the James Blunt "You're Beautiful" style of leering, into his fantasies of holding the creepiest of all superpowers.
If I was invisibleThen I could just watch you in your roomIf I was invincibleI'd make you mine tonight
Honestly, there's not a part of this song that isn't hair-raising. The rest of the lyrics try to provide some sort of romantic context to his little game of make-believe, but it always comes out like the scrawling of a repressed future serial killer:
I keep tracing your stepsEach move that you make
