10 Creepiest Paranormal Events In Rock Music
1. Everything about the Houdini Mansion
It's not out of the question for musicians to break out of their comfort zones to record. Sometimes you just need a breath of fresh air to keep your creative juices flowing and come up with your best material. It would be one thing to travel to distant lands to make your record, but far too many rockers have made their way to the Houdini mansion.
Though the famed magician never actually lived in the house, this fabled estate has been a go-to recording spot in spite of its morbid reputation. No matter which band you come across who has recorded there, every one of them has a significant ghost story to tell. In one of the early instances of recording, The Red Hot Chili Peppers definitely had a haunting feeling when in attendance, with drummer Chad Smith refusing to stay in the house with the rest of the band during recording. One photo session even apparently captured a ghost.
Even into the '00s, Slipknot had some terrors when recording Vol. III: the Subliminal Verses, with Chris Fehn talking about lights going on and off during his stay there. The mansion may be considered one of rock's darkest recording spots, but that didn't stop producer Rick Rubin from making it his home studio in recent years. There's a lot of messed up elements to Houdini's mansion, but if you look at the actual guests on call, it's a practical who's who of hard rock talent.
