10 Creepy Predictions In Songs That Came True

8. Jimi Hendrix Knew About Climate Change - Up From The Skies

Jimi Hendrix was arguably one of the greatest innovators that rock music has ever seen. A genuine virtuoso, his otherworldly ability to shred a fretboard and knack for writing iconic licks has meant that he has come to be seen as that rarest of phenomena - a truly transcendental artist.

But it would appear that Jimi was extremely forward thinking in other areas too. Even as early as 1967, it would seem as if he was lamenting the potential threats of climate change. On Up From The Skies, the former army man wrote: “I'm so concerned / And I come back to find / The stars misplaced / And the smell of a world / That is burned / A smell of a world / That is burned / Yeah well, maybe, hmm… / Maybe it's just a... change of climate”.

Given some of the horrendous natural atrocities we’ve seen in recent times, plus the ever-growing warnings sounded by the scientific community about the risks we are running if we don’t change our attitudes and behaviours towards the environment, it’s hard not to hear Hendrix’s words without feeling at least a pang of sorrow.
