6. Rise Against
Put simply, Rise Against are f*#king awesome. This one might seem out of place on the list because Rise Against are actually very revered and popular in the rock industry. However, the reason behind their inclusion on this list is that they are deserving of even more. Another band that has been around a long time, Rise Against have amassed an impressive fan base and attained much success with their 6 albums. The band has stayed relatively true to their original sound and has maintained their edgy, politically driven style. As Vegans and environmentalists, Rise Against often sing about Fair Trade issues, famine, deforestation and politics. I always enjoy their lyrics as a nice change from the usual love, hate and or death meanings we get from most artists. Rise Against are another band with scarcely a bad song to their name. Give It All, Audience of One, Swing Life Away, Prayer of The Refugee, Ready To Fall, Architects, Make It Stop and Rumours of My Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated are only a few of their best songs. Frontman Tim McIlwraith has a great voice, his rawness means he can both sing and scream as good as anyone in the business. Their genre is questionable, the speed of their songs is similar to punk rock but they often feature the melodies and structure of hard rock. Rise Against are very underrated, theyre rarely highly listed amongst rocks best but prove with each album that they should be right up there.
