10 Crucial Punk Rock Bands Currently Active
4. Pop Punk (UK) - Neck Deep
"F*ck Neck Deep."
A phase shouted towards the band with nothing but pure love and admiration from everyone in a crowd who came to see the Welsh four-piece.
Seemingly blooming from out of nowhere in 2012, this band of pop punkers from Wrexham have been a hot commodity for their entire run. Representing a branch of the punk tree on the British front that has always been woefully lacking, Ben Barlow and co. look to right this injustice and prove that Brits are also capable of producing wholesome punk rock like those across the Atlantic.
Similar to State Champs, Neck Deep have released four studio albums to date, each inherently unique to the previous. While always rooted in '00s style pop punk, the band consistently find ways of pushing out the boat and creating a sound that is synonymously individual to them.
Taking on everyone with an attitude that screams pure punk energy, Neck Deep have established themselves an impressive following all around the world, putting on sold out headliner gigs all around Europe and even accompanying Blink-182 (and Lil Wayne, because that happened...) in 2019 on their US tour.
They may not have a clear and obvious political message, a gripe they want to call people out on or even a style that screams, 'man, those guys are punk' but Neck Deep have an undoubted drawing power, tapping into the psyche of underrated and underappreciated youth and uniting them. Above everything else, that is very punk.
