10 Crucial Punk Rock Bands Currently Active

3. Skate Punk - Goldfinger

Grab the checkboard Vans from under the bed, put on your best Dickies long sleeve shirt and grab your battered deck. It's time to skate (or at least boot up Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1&2 Remaster on your PS4).

Anyone who owned the original PlayStation will remember rolling down the opening level of Tony Hawk Pro Skater's Warehouse level shouting themselves hoarse to Goldfinger's smash hit 'Superman'. While this article won't go into why that game was so iconic and legendary (that's a piece for another occasion), we will talk about the guys who made, arguably, the most recognisable punk song of a generation.

Taking a big influence from the likes Bad Brains, Dead Kennedys and even The Who, Goldfinger are one of the most highly respected bands in punk at the current moment. A key cog in the machine that brought ska-infused punk to popularity in America alongside No Doubt, Rancid and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, John Feldmann (lead vocals) has been the figurehead of punk to the mainstream with his contributions to the music industry away from the scene.

A record producer of 11+ platinum certified records, ranging from recognised scene members Good Charlotte, all the way to Hilary Duff and even Avicii, Feldmann has assured himself of legend status in music, period!

Goldfinger, itself, has become a supergroup of punk, playing host to Mike Herrera (MxPx) in addition to Feldmann, as well having touring priors with the likes of Travis Barker (Blink-182) and Cyrus Bolooki (New Found Glory).
