10 David Bowie Songs That Will Make Your Life Better

8. Golden Years (1975)

The Station to Station lead single is almost more famous for the anecdote about its intended use for Elvis Presley than it is for its funky disco beat and Bowie's vocal acrobatics throughout. Though The King never recorded the track, he did send Bowie a note thanking him which the latter reportedly kept for the rest of his life.

At one point poised to be the title track of the record, its insistent, niggling groove is a particularly infectious breed of earworm - one that shuffles forward on a sea of handclaps and chimes that prove resolutely addictive.

Something of a culture vulture, Mr Steel can historically be found in three places; the local cinema, the local stadium or the local chip shop. He is an avowed fan of franchise films, amateur cricket and power-chords.
