10 Deep-Cut Alice Cooper Songs Every Rock Fan Should Check Out
8. You're My Temptation
There's a case to be for The Last Temptation being Cooper's most underappreciated album, and outside of the radio-friendly single Lost in America, very little of the album's material is well-known or represented live.
Taking the form of yet another concept album, The Last Temptation follows typical Cooper protagonist Steven, as he comes face to with a traveling sideshow that on the surface are all smiles and joy, but bubbling away beneath the surface is something truly nefarious.
One such highlight from this album is You're My Temptation, a song that perfectly melds Cooper's narrative-heavy lyricism with what was the contemporary rock sound of the time. The wailing guitar that accompanies the main riff invokes ideas of pain and suffering, and Cooper's breathy, restrained vocal performance paints quite the picture.
Unsurprisingly, this song deals with temptation, and one man's desire to not succumb to it. His test has come in the form of a woman, one who has been sent by the devil to claim the man's soul, but many have speculated that the song is more personal, dealing with Cooper's newfound Christianity and eschewing elements of his past. But no matter the interpretation, this song still rocks.
