10 Deep-Cut Alice Cooper Songs Every Rock Fan Should Check Out

9. The World Needs Guts

Constrictor is a largely forgotten album these days, despite it being Coop's big comeback after spending many years battling his alcohol addiction. Always one to move with the times, he donned the leather and doused the stage in fake blood, not only apeing the popular metal acts of the time but the slew of slasher films that were making a killing at the box-office.

Most of the material on the album is fairly routine, but The World Needs Guts is a real stand-out. Kicking off with some finger-shredding guitar work by Kane 'Rambo' Roberts, this track goes for the throat immediately and very scarcely loses steam throughout.

Lyrically, this is Alice's call-to-arms, demanding the masses stand-up and fight the powers that be, demanding to see blood, cuts, and most importantly guts. It's genuinely rousing stuff, and the song has lost none of its power in the thirty-some years since its debut.

Whilst never released as a single, this song has found its way back into Cooper's set-list numerous times over the years, and its blistering power and sing-along chorus never fails to whip a crowd into a frenzy. Alice's hair-metal phase may have had diminishing returns, but this corker is here to stay.
