10 Definitive Pop Music Songs Of The 2010s

8. Gotye (feat. Kimbra) - Somebody That I Used To Know

Considering the supremacy of party and electronic music in 2011, Gotye and Kimbra's emergence of their one-hit wonder was intriguingly distinct from the typical mainstream formula. This ballad, sung by two relatively unknown singers, Gotye, a Belgian-Australian, and Kimbra, a New Zealander, stunned everyone when it went viral.

A music video to accompany the song was released shortly after the audio became widespread in numerous countries, including the Netherlands, Italy, and the United Kingdom. The video itself was visually striking, with the two performers on screen being painted like a canvas. And with that, the video quickly gained popularity on YouTube, propelling the song further up the charts.

However, Gotye and Kimbra never truly followed up their 2012 year-end Billboard chart-topping performance with another major international hit, either jointly or separately. Without a doubt, this ranks among the biggest one-hit wonders of the decade.
