10 Definitive Pop Music Songs Of The 2010s

7. Psy - Gangnam Style

The Gangnam Style craze undoubtedly qualifies as one of the decade's most iconic hits. Breaking into the western pop industry, this South Korean song proved it didn't matter where it was from; it could take the whole world by storm - and very quickly too!

To appeal to western audiences, Gangnam Style's music video used the power of the internet to make itself as bizarre and ridiculous as possible. Naturally, everything worked extremely well. Gangnam Style, which only took six months to accomplish, became the first YouTube video to reach one billion views on December 21st, 2012.

From there, Gangnam Style was nothing short of a modern media phenomenon, inspiring numerous online parodies and receiving celebrity attention from the likes of Katy Perry, Robbie Williams, and T-Pain. In addition to its success, it also popularised a dance style featured in the viral video that has since become an iconic staple of 2010s pop culture.
