10 Disturbing Songs You Hear Then Never Forget

4. Tiptoe Through The Tulips - Tiny Tim

Okay, so while plenty of the songs on this list are disturbing in a vacuum, with the lyrics and sounds providing enough on their own to get under the listener's skin, Tiny Tim's version of Tiptoe Through The Tulips is primarily thought of as a spooky track because of how movies have transformed its context.

This specific rendition featured in the James Wan directed horror movie Insidious in 2010, and immediately became associated with that franchise's terrifying tale of demons and possession. Tiny Tim's erratic, impossibly high vocals no longer appeared charming, and now can't be listened to without thinking of that weird dancing child in the movie, or any of the other horrors conjured by Wan.

Even without that though, the recording still has an unnatural quality to it, in the same way a lot of songs from that era do. It feels like an artefact from another time, and Tim's updated performance doesn't actually help matters on that front.
