10 Disturbing Songs You Hear Then Never Forget

3. Hamburger Lady - Throbbing Gristle

Throbbing Gristle is not a band I'd heard much about before researching this list and, in a way, I wish I never indulged my curiosity. The British art collective released Hamburger Lady in the 70s, and was inspired by a report from a medic in the Vietnam war after treating a female burn victim.

The spoken-word lyrics, distorted and alien, describe the "Hamburger Lady" in question from head to toe, and what fate awaits her.

That, in itself, would be disturbing enough, but it's the music that accompanies it which really elevates the whole thing. What sounds like a droning nuclear air raid siren acts as the backbone of the tune, while erratic, industrial beats violently cut through the monotony.

Listening to this on repeat is enough to make you feel a bit mad.
