10 Double Albums Worth Hearing Start To End

1. The Beatles - The Beatles (White Album)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbq-8FYpYPo A wonderful achievement by perhaps the greatest band in rock history, the White Album is a glorious blend of folk, rock, and experimental abstract pieces. Written and recording during a very rough period for The Beatles, the White Album finds them at odds, almost acting as individual artists. Many songs come across as solo recordings, sometimes only featuring one or two members of the band. It has been said that at times John, Paul and George would all be in different studios, focusing on their own songs, choosing to dismiss the others works. The band may have been at odds with one another, but the album did not suffer from it. A glorious album, it features some of Paul's most down to earth folk songs ("Blackbird," "Rocky Raccoon," "Mother Nature's Son"), some of Lennon's quirkier lyrics ("The Continuing Story Of Bungalow Bill") and perhaps George's finest musical moment ("While My Guitar Gently Weeps"). The diverse genres represented throughout display a very matured group, artists branching out, exploring a wide variety of techniques. At times a more minimalist album, particularly compared to the musical tapestry of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, the album also features a uniquely simple, minimalist cover, all white with simply "The Beatles" lightly represented. Don't be fooled by this simplicity, this is a deep, powerful album, worth every second spent listening to it. Best of Album 1: 1. While My Guitar Gently Weeps 2. Blackbird 3. Rocky Raccoon Best of Album 2: 1. Mother Nature's Son 2. Helter Skelter 3. Revolution 1
