10 Dream Heavy Metal Tour Line-Ups

2. Slipknot, Gojira, Code Orange & Loathe

Legend has it that, back in the bygone days of 1999, a fresh-faced Slipknot were so crazy and frantic onstage that no other group wanted the nine-piece supporting them on tours, out of fear of being unceremoniously upstaged.

Jump-cut to almost two decades down the line and there are a plethora of younger metal bands currently in the same situation: ones that are so damn good at playing shows that they always outdo anyone set to follow. So, why not pair probably the best live band of the ‘90s and early 2000s with the most ferocious rockers of this generation?

Gojira would be the main support on this herculean line-up, as their technical groove/death metal chops would gel effortlessly would Slipknot’s own insanity. The Frenchmen are also some of the most lauded performers of the past few years, having topped our “Best Metal Live Shows of 2016” list.

Kick-starting proceedings would be the metalcore duology of Code Orange and Loathe, both of which integrate Slipknot-inspired nu metal into their unruly hardcore. The pure adrenaline that these two openers would provide would make for an apocalyptic warm-up. Also, both are currently riding high off two of the best hardcore albums of 2017: Forever and The Cold Sun.
