10 Dumbest Music Videos Ever Made
4. Cornerstone - Arctic Monkeys
Most people just starting out don't really have the budget to make a full scale music video. Hell, most bands are lucky if they even manage to get a decent performance clip of their song down on tape to actually promote on their social media feeds these days. At least they were trying though, unlike whatever the hell happened here on Cornerstone.
Then again, it's almost easy to see something like this as a troll on Alex Turner's part. Being one of the last breakthrough singles off of Humbug, this Arctic Monkeys video is nothing but one continuous take of Turner in what is probably his bedroom, singing the song directly into the camera while the backing track is playing in his headphones. What makes everything especially hilarious is Turner's expression, as he glares into the camera for dramatic effect, almost never breaking throughout the entire song.
It's almost like he was trying to go for something brooding and captivating, only to actually come off like he's really concentrating on nailing the perfect take so he can cut off the feed and go to bed. Even though this is a far ways away from good, the devotion that Turner had to making peak awkwardness almost calms all the way back around to being endearing. It's not good, but god bless em he's trying.
