10 Dumbest Music Videos Ever Made
3. I'll Stick Around - Foo Fighters
After the grunge explosion started to make the rounds across the world, it was time for music videos to get a bit more artsy. Across the airwaves, you would see the iconic clips for something like Smells Like Teen Spirit or Jeremy, each of which had much more to do with just performance clips or riots in a gymnasium in Nirvana's case. This was anger, this was revolution, and I'll Stick Around was the moment that they ran out of ideas.
That's not even to discount the song itself, with this being one of the standout tracks on the Foo Fighters' debut album. Coming off of the poppy single Big Me though, this might have been just a way to restore their indie cred, as most of the video involves some of the most confusing imagery of the '90s, as chess pieces fall out of Dave Grohl's and eventually shifts to the band playing in an attempt to defeat what looks like a deadly virus in front of them.
Considering that this song was allegedly about the strained relationship between Grohl and Cobain's widow Courtney Love, it may have been better that they go with the random images rather than what the song was really getting at. Even though this song is a jam from the post grunge world, Trent Reznor just did the Love bashing a lot better in the video for Starf*ckers Inc.
