10 Easy Guitar Riffs (That Don't Appear On Other Lists)

9. Since You Been Gone - Rainbow

Rainbow's fourth studio album, and only album to feature Graham Bonnet on lead vocals, "Down To Earth" is a stellar effort that contains some of the band's most well-known hits, such as "All Night Long", "Lost In Hollywood" and the classic "Since You Been Gone". Ritchie Blackmore's guitar playing provides a solid foundation for Roger Glover, Cozy Powell and Don Airey to build off of with their amazing bass, drum and keyboard work, respectively. Bonnet's vocals are also worthy of note, as they not only compliment the rest of the band perfectly, but also provide a wonderful sense of gravitas and nuance that many other vocalists do not possess.

The main riff to this song is comprised of only four power chords, which any beginner should be able to get the hang of quickly once they've obtained a brief knowledge of power chords. It's this riff that's used for the intro and choruses, and the same basic pattern is kept for the key change near the end of the track. The verse and bridge sections might take a little longer to learn, but the main guitar passage is all that is needed for the majority of the song. Although Ritchie Blackmore might be renowned for that OTHER famous easy riff, Since You Been Gone is another straightforward song that a newcomer might also like to learn.
