10 Elvis Presley Songs Which Will Change How You Think About The King

9. Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain

Elvis was washed up and useless in his final years? Not really. Evidence shows that Presley, albeit physically and mentally far from his prime, still had passion and talent to spare. For proof, check out the wonderful re-issue package by RCA, Way Down In The Jungle Room, which compiles master recordings and outtakes from two sessions in 1976, a year before the star's death.

These sessions took place at Elvis' home, Graceland, in his so-called 'jungle room' den. By this point, Presley had become somewhat reclusive and, in a attempt to get some recorded material from him, RCA decided to take the mountain to Mohammed, providing all the equipment needed to capture music in situ.

The results show that Presley unquestionably still 'had it'. Blues Eyes Crying In The Rain is a particular highlight. The song was penned by songwriting legend, Fred Rose, and originally recorded by country superstar, Roy Acuff. Willie Nelson and Hank Williams are just two of the notable artists who have recorded their own versions. Presley's is up there with the best.
