10 Essential Albums From 2019 You Need To Hear

8. ELO - From Out Of Nowhere

At this point in his career, Jeff Lynne doesn't owe anyone a damn thing. The man has carved out a name for himself as a tremendous songwriter and producer for over 40 years. Many bands of ELO's tenure tend to rest on their laurels as a legacy act. Not so with Jeff Lynne.

From Out Of Nowhere is the best collection of tracks to come from ELO in ages. At 32 minutes, this record does not waste an iota of time with immaculate production and near-perfect songwriting. The hooks of songs like "Help Yourself" and "Sci-Fi Woman" remind you that there's a reason why Lynne was asked to be a member of the Traveling Wilburys. You don't get to join a band with Bob Dylan, George Harrison, and Tom Petty by being a slouch.

To be fair, not every song is insanely thought-provoking. The story of "Time of Our Lives" amounts to nothing more than recounting the bands performance at Wembley Stadium. But if the songs are this good, Jeff Lynne has certainly earned the right to take that lyrical victory lap. Even if you're not acclimatized to ELO's music, this album comes highly recommended for fans of classic rock.
