10 Even More Perfect 1980s Rock Albums With No Bad Songs

5. AC/DC - Back In Black

Put out into the wild in July 1980, Back in Black remains a game-changer of a record for AC/DC - not least in how this was the first album to feature Brian Johnson on lead vocals following the death of Bon Scott.

Hot on the heels of the prior year's Highway to Hell album, there was genuine discussions about disbanding AC/DC in the aftermath of Scott's passing. Instead, the choice was made to carry on with the band, with former Geordie signer Johnson brought into the fold.

So successful was Back in Black, it became the second-highest selling album in music history and has sold over 50 million copies across the globe. Of course, key to that is the fact that this record contains thorough bangers such as You Shook Me All Night Long, Hells Bells, Shake a Leg, Shoot to Thrill, and the titular Back in Black.

This 1980 album had something for everyone, making it appeal to a wide range of demographics due to the sheer fact of how damn catchy Back in Black's big tunes were. This is a record that's accessible to everyone, regardless of your regular musical tastes. Here, AC/DC smoothly walked the line between hard rock, sing-a-long melodies, and commercially pleasing songs - which was all kicked off by the album's first single, You Shook Me All Night Long, being AC/DC's first song to be a Top 40 hit.
