10 Even More Underrated Red Hot Chili Peppers Tracks

5. Don’t Forget Me (2002)

This track is one of the bands most powerful songs written to date. If you want to witness one of the finest displays of guitar control check out this live performance. It may start off a little slow, but by the end of the track the band play as if they're hardwired into the mains.

Despite the songs popularity among fans, however, it doesn't get the credit it's due in the history of slow melodic ballads. It's certainly not your typical hard rock ballad but then again the Chili Peppers have never been your typical rock act.

Another number from By The Way, the track was a haunting combination of melancholic bass chords, strummed as opposed to plucked, and Frusciante's intermittent finger tapping. The heavily modulated guitar sound combined with a fairly simple riff resonated in the sparseness of the backing track.

By The Way was an album were the guitar was everything, it was often understated but that only added to the power of Fruciante's solos when he chose to let rip.

This track should be played at night, preferably whilst driving down the motorway with street lights streaming by.
