10 Even More Underrated Red Hot Chili Peppers Tracks

6. Walkabout (1995)

Okay, so One Hot Minute gets a bad wrap. It's not wholly underserved. The album was a bit of a mess in terms of musical themes, the overall flow was off and generally it lacked cohesion.

in 1992 John Frusciante left to pursue his drug addiction and the band went through several temporary members before settling on Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro. Let's be clear here, Navarro is a brilliant guitar player who has channeled some of the most exciting riffs from his nail polished finger tips. He just didn't fit with the Chili's sound.

On paper it looked like a great choice, Jane's Addiction and the Chili Peppers had come up at similar times and both pushed an alternative brand of guitar led rock but their sounds were never the less very different.

Despite this being made evident with the jumbled assortment of sounds that made up One Hot Minute, Walkabout was a decent song. It sounded completely removed from any sound the band had produced previously and it was Navarro's silky chords and heavy riffs that were to be thanked.

If the band was able to take this sound and expand on it, the album might have been very different. But the ugly head of addiction was beginning to pop up in Kiedis's life again, which didnt help things.
