10 Famous Rock Albums That Were Almost Called Something Else

7. Arctic Monkeys - Suck It And See It (Almost Called “The Thunder-Suckle Fuzz Canyon”)

Whilst not as super famous as the other albums on this list, the alternative names for this Arctic Monkeys album from 2011 were just too good to ignore.

And yes, that's names, plural.

What ended up being called Suck It and See, after an old English expression meaning "to give something a try", went through several different monikers before it hit shelves.

In an interview with NME, the band confirmed there were many working titles considered, including The Thunder-Suckle Fuzz Crayon, The Rain-Shaped Shimmer Trap, and Thriller.

All of these fit in with the Monkeys' cheeky chappy, nonsense poet personas, as demonstrated by the fact that there's a song on this album called The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala.

Suck It and See seems like the most tame of those options, but even that landed the group in some hot water. In the USA, the album's title was obscured by a sticker when on sale in major retailers, as they considered it too rude to be displayed in public.

Would they have done the same thing if this album had been called The Thunder-Suckle Fuzz Crayon instead? Probably not.
