10 Famous Rock Albums That Were Almost Called Something Else

3. The Beatles - The Beatles (Almost Called “A Doll’s House)

It might officially be called The Beatles, but The Fab Four's seminal 1968 double album is more widely known as The White Album, due to its distinctive plain cover.

Created off the back of the band's visit to India, The White Album is the group's wildest collection of songs; from the deeply introspective Julia to the satirical Piggies to the full-on heavy metal track Helter Skelter.

Instead of a simple title or one assigned to it by other people, The Beatles was nearly called A Doll's House, which might have been an allusion to the various different songs "living" inside of it. But alas, somebody else got their first.

Psychedelic band Family released their debut album, Music in a Doll's House, just four months prior to The Beatles' record's release. Not wanting to get the two albums mixed up, the Liverpudlians opted for the much simpler title that everyone knows and loves today.

Would the cover have still been plain white had it been called A Doll's House? Would "The White Album" as it is now exist had Family not come along? As with many Beatles-related questions, nobody will ever know for sure.
