10 Famous Rock Music Videos Made On A Small Budget

3. Lonely Boy - The Black Keys

Remember the Seasick Steve video from earlier? Here's what it was trying to replicate.

Acting as the lead single for the band's El Camino album in 2011, Lonely Boy was supposed to have a much grander video. With a full script and a cast of over 40 people, the original Lonely Boy shoot was on a pretty large scale, but the band were not pleased with the end result.

This is the group who used to record albums in an old tyre factory; excess clearly isn't in their blood.

One of the extras hired was a man by the name of Derrick T. Tuggle, who caught the eye of director Jesse Dylan with his eccentric dancing. In need of a backup plan, Dylan asked Tuggle to improvise a dance to the entire song, and this wonderful video was born.

A single shot of Tuggle shaking his groove thing to the track, the Lonely Boy video blew up and went viral, creating more buzz and hype than any elaborately staged film ever could have.

Tuggle even got a cameo in Pharrell Williams' Happy out of it, which was more than deserved.
