10 Famous Rock Music Videos Made On A Small Budget

2. Velouria - Pixies

US band Pixies were offered a spot on British TV show Top of the Pops in 1990 to perform their hit song Velouria. Top of the Pops was a big deal back then, so they were eager to accept the offer, but there was just one problem. Velouria didn't have a music video, which would have disqualified it from appearing on the show.

That's when they came up with this ingenious idea.

Pixies went to a quarry and filmed themselves running towards the camera. This 23 seconds of footage was then slowed down to cover three minutes and 42 seconds of the song, and that was it.

That was the whole video. Four people running across some rocks in slow motion.

Needless to say, this video did not cost much to make. That was the whole point; it was shot quickly and cheaply with the sole purpose of getting the band on a TV show. And guess what? They never performed Velouria on Top of the Pops when it was a hit! So all of this was for nothing!

Hopefully they all had a nice day out, at the very least.
