10 Famous Rock Songs That Were Almost Called Something Else

1. Blink-182's All The Small Things - Almost Called “Babycakes-Buttermuffin”

If somebody has ever left you roses by the stairs, chances are they learned romance by listening to Blink-182 as a teenager. Poor things.

America's oldest teenagers were in search of a radio-friendly song in 1999, as so many of their other tracks included references that would not have gone over well on the morning school run. To achieve this, they wrote something so simple and inoffensive that radio stations would be basically forced to play it.

This was All the Small Things.

A love song in its purest form, the song was written in the style of the Ramones' more palatable records, a nod by Tom DeLonge to one of his favourite bands. In early demos, it was even referred to as "Ramones-Style Song", as well as utterly bizarrely name of Babycakes-Buttermuffin.

The song was written by DeLonge about his then-girlfriend, Jennifer Jenkins, so maybe this was his nickname for her? Hopefully not, as they were married for eight years, which is a long time to put up with such a stupid name.

Wherever it came from, Babycakes-Buttermuffin never saw the light of day, which may have been the best thing to ever happen to Blink.
