10 Famous Rock Songs That Were Almost Called Something Else

2. Pink Floyd's Echoes - Almost Called “Nothing, Parts 1-24”

If you like classic prog rock and have 23-and-a-half minutes going spare, why not treat yourself to the song Echoes?

Taking the entire second side of the album Meddle, Echoes is regarded as one of Pink Floyd's many masterpieces, showcasing their attention to detail and ability to craft weaving narratives across several musical movements.

Echoes is a fantastic title, as the song includes several fragments of pre-existing pieces, but what was it originally called? Nothing. It was called Nothing.

When Echoes was still a mad pipe dream, lying in bits and pieces on the cutting room table, it was labelled Nothing, Parts 1-24, presumably because the band didn't think anything would come of such a crazy idea.

Later tapes listed this experiment as "The Son of Nothing" and "The Return of the Son of Nothing", the latter of which was used to introduce it on stage before it got officially released.

Before time came to release the song on an album, its current name was chosen and it has since gone on to become a staple of Floyd fandom across the world. Although, The Return of the Son of Nothing is definitely a name someone else should steal.
