10 Fantastic Rock Albums That Never Got Made
1. Jimi Hendrix Jazz Fusion Album
There's no one really in the rock world disputing Jimi Hendrix's talents as a guitar player. Compared to his contemporaries both then and now, Hendrix's immaculate touch on the six-string was unparalleled, with an uncompromising sense of melody that we will probably never see again. For as much as Electric Ladyland may seem like a peak in retrospect, the door was open for one of the most legendary collaborations of all time.
At the time of his death, Hendrix was already putting the finishing touches on his Electric Lady studio as well as working on different projects of his own, as evidenced by the bootleg tapes that we see popping up every year. Although Hendrix had already crossed paths with the likes of Eric Clapton and Little Richard at that point, there was actually an idea for him to go into the studio with jazz legend Miles Davis for a session.
Remember, this was Davis during the height of his Bitches Brew period, which would have blended in perfectly with Hendrix's flair for the more cosmic side of rock and roll. Since neither men are around to tell the tale anymore, it would seem that Hendrix's almighty venture into the world of jazz fusion truly is the music of the gods at this point.
