10 Fascinating Backstories Behind Famous Rock Band's Names

8. What’s In A (Maiden) Name? - Paramore

Serving as contemporaries to MCR during the height of emo rock, Paramore attracted a lot of attention through their catchy riffs, teen-punk aesthetic, and the charisma of frontwoman Hayley Williams.

Williams was stupidly young when she entered the world of music, getting signed to Atlantic Records aged just 14 years old. Somehow, she's come out the other side of that as a seemingly well-adjusted person! That's not always the case with child stars.

The group went through a number of different members before eventually settling on the line-up that would record their debut album; Williams, brothers Josh and Zac Farro, guitarist Jason Bynum, and bassist Jeremy Davis.

Prior to this arrangement, one ex-bass player (whose name is lost to time) accidentally helped name the band when he revealed that his mother's maiden name was "Paramour".

Once the members learned that the word paramour meant secret lover, they decided to change the spelling slightly, which is how they got to where they are today.

The Paramours were actually a five-part musical group in the 1960s, but considering they mainly sang doo-wop, the chances of getting the two confused are slim to none.
